I am responsible for validating potential metabolic targets for anti-angiogenic therapies. Coordinting a small flexible team, I am designing goal-oriented experimental strategies for high-quality data generation and organise them with expert technicians/facilities or visiting researchers. My position also entails the critical assessment of scientific studies by peer-reviewing manuscripts, as well as conveying key concepts of my field to non-experts in an engaging manner by writing literature reviews.

The objective of my project was to reveal the unknown cause of genetic peroxisomal diseases. Organizing myself independently (in the framework of projected deliverables, incl. progress reports) and in collaboration with international institutions (e.g. by short research visits abroad), I successfully identified three novel diseases or disease mechanisms, all of which published in peer-reviewed journals. I was also granted the opportunity to present my findings at international conferences (see Awards).
