The Clay Elliott Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization providing scholarships to students attending an accredited Canadian post secondary institution. Brett was a volunteer on the board of directors and helped to develop a strategic plan and subsequently execute it. From October 2006 - October 2007 Brett was the first employee of the organization.

The Portland Group started out as a small research boutique firm dedicated to supporting the decision making needs of senior management and it grew to include projects in conference design and production, website development, search engine optimization, and social media. Brett's work with the Portland Group was to manage operations and execute all projects.

Brendan Wood International draws on a unique global intelligence network to identify TopGun performance in the capital markets throughout the world. Formed in 1970, the firm is owned exclusively by its employees and advisors. Returning to BWI Brett worked with various partners on existing projects and assisted in the development of a new study. He also worked closely with new hires to assist them with understanding the BWI methodology.

MC3 Intel was a pure play competitive intelligence firm specializing in implementing competitive intelligence programs for large organizations. The company had four main products: outsourced CI for companies that did not have the resources for an internal team, acting as an information stream for an existing internal CI program, developing new or improving existing CI departments through best practices, and a CI information portal. MC3 Intel was bought by Viva Intelligence and became the Global Intelligence
