Invented a new design of a corrosion-resistant dental implant. University of Washington filed a provisional patent. Identified microbial signatures of oral diseases using next generation sequencing (454) and microarrays. Conducted a clinical study with periodontitis and peri-implantitis patients at the UW dental clinic. Management: obtained and managed funds, laboratory and students.

Created a new microarray-based methodology for measuring gene activity - “gene-meter”. Applied the new methodology to accurate and precise copy number variation (CNV) measurements in M. musculus. Initiated a new research program to discover and investigate genes expressed postmortem using M. musculus and D. rerio. Applied gene-meter methodology for accurate quantification of gene expression.
